She is a widowed mother of three children, but considers all of the Faraja children to be her own. She is the director and manager of the home and never fails to appreciate a kind deed done by anyone.
Becky - Matron
Becky grew up in Kisii in western Kenya. She is married with four children. She attended Myaguta Form school. Becky is responsible for day to day chores in the home such as washing and basic child care. She also assists our chef in preparing meals for the children.
Edgar - Social WOrker
Edgar is our social worker at Faraja Children's Home. He has completed a degree in Social Sciences from Makerere University in Uganda. Edgar's work includes social enquiries, mentoring, and general book keeping. He says his favorite thing about Faraja is the children, because they are all amazing and unique in their own way.
Arusei - Chef
Our chef at Faraja, Arusei, is 42 years old with a husband and three children. All through her schooling she was very successful, always at the top of her classes. She says she would like to eventually improve Faraja by doing some more farming in the home and planting more fruit trees. Her duties include cooking, portioning, and monitoring nutrition of the children.
Elkanah - Groundskeeper
Elkanah is our grounds keeper at Faraja. He is married with two children and additionally supports one orphan with his salary. While living in Eldoret, during the 2007 Post-Election Violence Elkanah lost the small shop he ran and all of his belongings. This led him to the Nairobi and eventually to Faraja. He enjoys being a role-model for the children and his duties include home repairs, live stock care, and farming.
